Hair Wraps

A few months ago I was interested in the hair wraps, (I've heard some call them crazy braids, etc.) so I went on over to Michaels (craft store) and bought a variety of beads in all different shapes and colors. I picked up the sting/thread as well and the wire. I watched a few tutorial videos online and figured it out as I went. wrapping the colored thread/string around the straind of hair, the thicker the better. It's just  Basically, like anything else that's new, alot of trial and error:)  Eventually I got the hang of it, and here are the results.

Valentines Day Hair

A few weeks ago was Valentines Day and here are a couple of styles that I came up with.  Some of my inspiration and ideas came from The Story of a Princess and Her Hair as well as Beads Braids & Beyond.  These styles turned out great, and most importantly me and the girls had alot of fun creating them. The first one on my neice D. was a 3D like heart on top, it was a little difficult to get the heart shape to stay put.  Next time around I would try to add beads to the hair that is shaped like a heart, that may help to hold the shape better.  The second style on my daughter N. was quick and simple, and once again turned out really cute.

Princess Hair Styles

Lately my daughter and neice have been wanting princess style hair.  Now, that's been kinda difficult to come up with a style that resembles the princesses hair.  So instead of the same hairstyles, I decided to add a hair accessory that matches.  I did find different things just lying around the house, old toys, play shoes that had the characters on them.  So here are the styles that I came up with.  Enjoy!

First Day of Blogging

Yes, today is the day, my first day of blogging. Very excited about this. I have been following a few blogs over the past few months and I have loved every minute of it. I am Kristi of KJ Braids, and this blog is designed to show my work and my love for braiding, and other natural hair styles, designed around children, mostly my daughter N, as she is my hair model:) I look forward to meeting others that share a similar passion.

The first blog I found helped me tremendously, it is "Beads Braids and Beyond", she is a fantastic women, who helps her followers with issues pertaining to hair care as well as styling for curly hair types. The second one I found is awesome as well, "The Story of a Princess and Her Hair", this woman is very talented and creative. She shows you very unique hair styling options for all hair types.
